Floral & Glow in the Dark Stamping Decals Manicure (& tutorial)

Si il y a une méthode de stamping que j'ai essayé de maitriser sans trop y arriver, c'est le le stamping decals. L'idée c'est de stamper un motif et le colorier avant de l'appliquer sur les ongles. En théorie ça semble facile, en pratique je n'ai jamais vraiment réussi. J'ai pourtant regarder plein de tutoriels, mais il y avait toujours quelques choses qui ne se passait pas comme prévu. J'ai persévéré et j'ai enfin réussi. J'ai choisi un motif floral que j'ai colorié avec des vernis phosphorescents, et j'adore le résultat. Je n'ai pas fais tous les ongles parce que mine de rien le processus et un peu long et que je ne voulais pas faire quelques chose de trop chargé. Voici le résultat...

If there is a stamping method have been trying to master without really succeding, it is the decals stamping. The idea is to stamp a pattern and color it before applying it on the nails. In theory it sounds easy, in practice I have never really succeeded. Yet I watch a lot of tutorials, but there were always a few things that did not go as planned. I persevered and I finally succeeded. I chose a floral pattern that I colored with glow in the dark polish, and I love the result. I did not do all the nails because the processactually takes quite some time and I did not want something too heavy on my nails. Here is the result ...

Alors bien sur il y a plein de tutoriels pour cette méthode sur le net, mais je me suis dis que j'allais quand même en faire un en expliquant en détails les étapes et surtout les choses à ne pas faire pour réussir. Vous trouverez également une liste des choses dont vous allez avoir besoin en photo ci-dessous. La première étape c'est de choisir un vernis de base pour votre manucure. Et c'est l'étape que j'appellerai l'étape 0, vernir vos ongles avec cette couleur de base et laissez sécher. Personnellement je fais toujours cette étape la veille, comme ça je suis sure que je vernis et bien sec.

There is of course plenty of tutorials for this method on the net, but I thought that I would still make one and explain in detail the steps and especially what not to do to succeed. There is also a list of things you will need in picture below. The first step is to choose a base color for your manicure. And this is what I call step 0, polishing your nails with the base color and let dry. Personally I always do this step the day before, so I'm sure the polish is dry.

2. stamper le motif avec le vernis de votre choix, mais un vernis à stamping c'est mieux. J'ai utiliser le konad noir. Laissez sécher (en général les vernis pour stamping sèche vite donc je dirais 5-10 minutes, pendant ce temps vous pouvez nettoyer votre plaque et préparer les vernis de couleur et les dotting tools)

2. Stamp the pattern with the polish of your choice, but a polish for stamping is better. I use the black konad. Allow to dry (usually stamping polish dry quickly so I would say 5-10 minutes, during which time you can clean your plate and prepare the color polish and dotting tools)

3 & 4. Le coloriage du motif est une étape important et il faut faire attention à me pas abîmer le motif, c'est pour cela qu'au lieu d'utiliser un pinceau j'utilise des dotting tools. je ne brosse pas le motif avec le vernis, je tapote juste la couleur en essayant de ne pas toucher le motif pour le pas l'abîmer. Vous pouvez utiliser autant de couleurs que vous voulez, mais une fois fini laissez bien sécher (15-20 minutes, pour que le vernis de couleur soit bien sec, mais ne laissez pas sécher trop longtemps, sinon le vernis sera trop dur et le motif sera cassant)

3 & 4. The coloring of the pattern is an important step and you have to be careful to not damage the pattern underneath, that is why instead of using a brush I use dotting tools. I do not brush the pattern with the color, I just pat the color trying not to touch the pattern to not damage it. You can use as many colors as you want, but once finished allow to dry (15-20 minutes, so that the color polish is dry, but do not let it dry too long, otherwise the polish will be too hard and it can brittle)

5. appliquer une couche de top coat sur votre motif sec, là aussi essayé de ne pas trop toucher le motif avec le pinceau pour ne pas le faire baver ou l'abîmer, car même si il est sec il reste fragile. Et là c'est pour moi l'étape cruciale, il faut laissez séchez pour que le top coat soit sec mais pas cassant. Il faut qu'il soit souple mais si il n'est pas assez sec le motif va se déformer quand vous allez le décoller. Le temps de séchage dépend du type de top coat que vous utilisez. Si vous utilisez un top coat à séchage rapide (comme le HK Girl) ça peu allez très vite, mais attention ce genre de top coat deviennent cassant rapidement il faut travailler vite. Pour ce tutoriel j'ai utilisé un top coat à séchage rapide, mais la première fois que j'ai essayé cette méthode j'ai utiliser un top coat à séchage plus lent. J'ai du attendre plus longtemps pour qu'il soit sec mais au moins ça m'a permis de pouvoir manipuler le motif plus facilement une fois décollé.

5. Apply a layer of top coat on your dry pattern, again trying not to touch the pattern with the brush to not smear or damage it, because even if it is dry it is still fragile. And there it is for me the crucial step is to let dry the top coat until it is dry but not brittle. It must be flexible, but if it is not dry enough it will deform when you take it off. Drying time depends on the type of top coat you use. If you use a fast drying top coat (like HK Girl) that goes pretty fast, but be careful with that kind of top coat it dries quickly but become brittle quickly too so you have to work fast. For this tutorial I used a fast drying top coat, but the first time I tried this method I use a regular top coat that dry slower. I had to wait longer for it to be dry but at least it allowed me to manipulate the pattern more easily once taken off.

7. Couper les contours du motif si besoin pour l'adapter à vos ongles. J'ai vu certains tutoriels ou ils appliquent tous le motif et le coupe une fois posé, mais je n'ai pas encore réussi à faire ça, donc je ne coupe avant de le poser.

7. Cut the borders of the pattern as needed to fit your nails. I saw some tutorials and they apply the whole pattern and cut once layered, but I did not manage to do that, so I cut before placing it.

9. Appliquer une couche de top coat pour sceller le motif et laissez sécher

Comme voue l'imaginez ça prend pas mal de temps pour faire une seul motif, donc pour allez plus vite il vous faut plusieurs tampons pour stamping. j'en possède 3 c'est pour ça que j'ai fais 3 ongles sur chaque mains. Avez cette méthode le résultat est vraiment joli mais c'est relativement long à réaliser, donc prenez votre temps et ne commencez pas cette technique si vous n'avez pas beaucoup de temps devant vous, ou commencez juste par un accent nail.

As you can imagine it takes quite some time to make one single pattern, so to go faster you may need more stamper. I own 3 that's why I have done three nails on each hand. With this method the result is really nice but it is relatively timeconsuming, so take your time and do not start this technique if you do not have much time to spare, or just start with one accent nail.
